I found this gun months ago and posted it. I have finally got around to displaying it. I found almost all of this old gun except for the hammer and lock. My guess is that they where lost when the gun exploded! Would love to know the story behind this find. I guess that’s what makes thing stuff so fun you just don’t know! I’m planning to give it to my neighbor who property I found it on. He was very excited when I found it.

Contact Dixie Gun Works in Union City, TN. They may have the parts you are looking for.

Nice!

I have to admit however, I'd have a hard time giving that one up, at least for a while.

Certainly a nice gesture, and knowing it isn't your intent, I hope it brings you many more equally productive permissions.

Looks awesome. Have you tried putting the parts over the image of the rifle? I've seen a few museum pieces displayed like that and it looks really cool.

Another wonderful recovery, story, and representation of our MD'ing community. Thanks for your efforts and the pics, much appreciated!

Thanks to everyone! Giving it to my neighbor is not a problem for me. Him and his wife are the nicest people you could ever meet. They do so many nice things for my family and I all the time. I’m always trying to find thing I can do for them. As for doing it to help get more permissions. He has gotten me permissions at a total of 5 different farms. A guess maybe over 1300 hundred acres. I just find a good looking spot and ask do you know them? He grabs his phone and calls them. Just like that I have permission. Finding time to get out there is the hard part for me.

Good luck to all! Get out there and find something cool!

Dang

Thats one to hang on the wall , the inside of the barrel looks shot , I wouldn't attempt to fire it , might blow up in your face , its A FIND TO HANG , and when everyone asks about it , I found it metal detecting :dingding::holycow::thumbsup:

Wow!!!! that is awesome looking. Would love to hang something like that on my wall. They will love it.

Man I love Muzzle Loaders & MMmmaaaannnnn that is neat - - -

Seems I've seen some with a engraved name on the barrel... I guess no luck huh!
