I'm not asking or mentioning this to be provocative. A detectors sales I guess have no bearing on how good it really is. The Deus II is an expensive detector so that could have a bearing on it's sales. They don't seem that hard to get though for being so early since they began shipping.

Seems like when the Equinox was released it took a really long time before it was easy to get one. Wasn't it like almost a full year after the announcement before the rush had died down enough to easily get one. Seems like some people started getting them in March of 2018, but I don't know the earliest date people got them. I know for months after people started initially getting them it was really tough to get the 800 model.

The Deus II is not that tough to get. Does that mean sales are not spectacular. I just don't see the traffic generated about the Deus II as I did about the Equinox. The Equinox seemed to have more people scrambling to get one versus those wanting desperately to find a Deus II. Again my buddy has one and is doing great with his. This isn't a bash the XP Deus II topic, it's a is the DII detector selling well topic. Of course I have no idea what or how good it's doing in Europe.

Yup, I see the same thing.
Also, for me personally. The headphones and shaft are not usable in my location. I am slightly pissed about this in combination with the price of the detector.
I do not consider the Anderson shaft a good replacement, so I wait.

I believe a lot has to do with cost. It is for me anyway. A lot more people can afford $900 than $1,600.

I believe if both sold for the same cost the Deus would outsell the Equinox 800. I have owned 3 NOX 800s and didn't have any problems getting them.

As I've said from day one. The Equinox is an amazing detector, for the money.

Deus 2 sales are strong. I was passed some info (indirectly) few weeks ago. There are 2 distributors for Xp in USA btw. Info I got was just from one of these distributors.

Notice even one person here has deus 2 and won’t admit.
You know why?
Go read.

Will as many Deus 2 units be sold a Equinox?
Doubt it.
Common sense. Price and could be name recognition as far as Minelab.

Minelab has huge following no doubt.

Go back and look when Minelab got started. Folks were skeptical of them at first. Not anymore. Their product line was proved to perform by loads of users.

Xp now has turned some product loose. And in time they will likely get more trust and followers/users.

Thing that is strange. It’s the newer manufacturers who have a more firm grasp on industry. Not the older manufacturers.

Very good Salt water/beach capable detectors - you have these in your lineup odds are this will definitely get you more recognition. Especially if these machines can do other things besides beach hunt.

Longbow I think you're right. The honeymoons over as far as being the latest and greatest. And as glitches and weaknesses come to light the cost does seem a bit high. Particularly when there are other SMF machines out there in the 600 and 900 dollar range. I'm sure the Deus ll is a great machine but people are having second thoughts about plopping down 1600 bucks. I don't do facebook so my opinion is only from the few forums I do read. And in some posts I read I get a sense of a little bit of disappointment. They were expecting something a little more spectacular for the price. And it did take much longer here it the U.S. to get an Equinox 800 in the early days. I was fortunate enough to get mine in late Feb./18 by preordering. And when I decided to buy a backup it took till the end of July to get another one. If you remember the Equinox was debuted at Detectival in Sept./17 and I'm hoping this year at Detectival they will at least give us an idea on whats next. My thoughts, something on imaging, maybe one upping the XY screen a little. We'll see. Mark

When Minelab debuted Eqx at Detectival. Unit was actually incomplete. It functioned only in some detect modes.
So folks got a look.
No pandemic going on with EQx testing and building and release.

Deus 2. Folks only got to see unit in a box.
Unit not turned on. This just a short while before unit was released to public.
Pandemic happening during testing, build and release.

Wonder if Xp back last summer (assuming beach modes were complete) would have showed unit busting 16” deep nickel in wet salt sand with a notable Minelab runner there on the scene to validate.
Would this have driven earlier demand of unit to be higher?
Good chance.

The only wait I had for the Equinox was there was a mix up at the dealer and someone that ordered after I did and they got theirs before I got mine.

Ebay is loaded with them, 9 and 11 inch.

Two friends who have dealerships have plenty in stock, according to one he said sales have leveled off, the other said the demand is not what it was but they were still moving.

1600 plus is steep for land hunters, beach hunters more within reach since a few gold will cover the cost. I'm still holding out. Seen a few used ones go for less than they paid for them. One 300 dollars less.

From the beach hunters corner, not really seeing any amazing gold finds with the D2, seems the hunters who had Nox's and did well (Most) are having continued success with the D2.

I've now personally compared the Deus II with the Equinox 800 in the wild on 200 targets and recorded the data. 100 of them found with the Equinox and 100 of them found with the Deus II.

I did not record this on video, because it was more about me personally learning the Deus II, so you can either take my word for it or not.

But the results were, 100 out of 100 targets found on the Equinox 800 were also giving a dig signal on the Deus II. Also, 100 out of 100 targets found with the Deus II were also giving a dig signal on the Equinox 800.

I hunt in extremely iron infested areas, with soil ranging from fairly neutral to heavily mineralized, both used an 11" coil. I'd expect that if the Deus II was superior in iron, I would have run across at least one target that it could hit that the Equinox could not. I think the margin of difference between the two detectors is much more narrow than the picture painted by some testers, and the difference really comes down to the feature sets they provide.

All I see online are totally bunk iron separation tests that don't properly simulate heavy iron, and depth tests with different sized coils (thus not controlling for the fact that different sized coils hit different ranges of conductivity better, e.g. smaller coils hit lower conductors harder), and detectors with uneven settings in terms of recovery speed, etc. I see people running the Deus II over allegedly "hunted out" places and then consider any amount of finds to be absolute proof that it performs better. Honestly, most all the tests I see are poorly contrived nonsense with wild conclusions tacked on.

I think the actual evidence that the XP Deus II is superior is rather weak at best in terms of raw detecting performance. I think it's pretty clear that the physics of the situation is the true limiting factor in terms of raw detecting performance.

I have yet to own a Deus II but I can say my Equinox 800 found me nothing my Deus I didn't. I do feel I got better VDI accuracy from the Deus and I rely heavily on the VDI.

My Simplex found more lead shot from my fort sites than either the Deus I or the NOX 800. It seemed to handle iron best. If the Simplex would have been as light and comfortable as my Deus, I'd kept it instead.

Also cant forget the market is in a weird spot.
Gas is high and we may be heading into another recession.

With the cost of inflation ratcheting up, we have less $$ to spend on hobbies.
I hope the lower $$ detectors is the trend that will keep going or at least stick to somewhere around 1500$ for a flagship. No way I can justify another 2k$ detector purchase and still remain married :p

I heard gas gonna be north of $7 a gallon by summer... I'm paying $6 a gallon for heating oil think I will waste $1600 a metal detector? No way... 6x330 gallons the detector can wait...

Yep, Two weeks ago here in So. Cal. my local station was 6.19 then it dropped to 6.09 for a week then a couple days ago it jumped to 6.29.
I can drive a mile away to a no name brand station and get gas for 5.89 but I try to stick with name brand gas.
Theres no reason to think that gas wont hit 7 or even 8 dollars a gallon over the summer. But this is the price we must pay for voting for socialism and environmental............ Uhhg. Never mind. :nah:

:violin:

You know it makes one wonder if he's not the reason for the slump in sales
I can tell you with 100% certainty the ONLY reason I will not purchase one is BECAUSE of one ex-member and one current member. XP are you listening ?
