I purchased a brand new E-Trac , went to use it today it wouldn’t turn on. I was really disappointed at this point. Put in new batteries, still dead. Got to looking at battery pack, looks like it had been opened before. So I opened it to see what was going on. Two metal tabs on end of pack weren’t making contact inside of detector, they were bent. I cut two small plastic shims to fit behind metal tabs on battery pack to keep them pushed outward. That fixed my issue. 😃.

My Explorer SE wouldn't power on once. Bought a new battery and it wound up being the faceplate.

Don't know if this will help your problem, but consider getting the RNB Innovations rechargeable if you can find one, and have the budget.

My stock rechargeable went bad after a few years, and this was a good replacement. 18 hour charge new, and still getting north of 12 hours on a charge.
