Default New Explorer SE & Finds

I just upgraded from an Ace 350 to a Minelab Explorer Se. Yesterday was the maiden voyage for 4 hrs. in a new spot that I have never hunted, and all I can say is WOW. I cant wait until I actually learn the in's & outs of this machine. I basically left it on the factory settings and went out just to get used to the tones and the operation of the machine. I would have been satisfied with just being able to locate targets and finding some clad. Boy was I suprised on how easy this machine is to learn and the difference owning a detector like this makes. I love my ACE 350, I have found ALOT with it, but this Explorer is just awsome. Like I said earlier, I can only anticipate the finding potential of this machine once I really learn how to use it. The only thing I did not care for was the Koss headphones that came with it. The sound and comfort were fine, but the cord is a little short. Other than that, the Minelab rocks. I found 1.40 in clad, a 925 silver mens ring that weighed 9 grams, that fits and looks good, a 1963 Roosevelt dime, a set of dog tags from 2003 that I am going to attempt to return to the owner. A bunch of lead fishing weights and a a large earring. Along with the usual amount of junk that didn't make the ride home.

Just noticed you're in Honeybrook. Have you tried MD'ing the apartments that used to be a school building? I've been wondering what neat old stuff might be waiting in the ground there!

Yep, we are close enough to be neighbors. I've been trying to get out with some others in the general area but it hasn't worked out yet. I will definitely give you a shout.

Yeah I always shake my head when people suggest that an explorer is difficult to use. You're doing it the right way by just taking it slow, and it's not like it's a slouch even at those settings. You'll be amazed how much you'll learn, and how long you will keep learning... and that will go on even after you think you have it figured out.

Yes the Koss are !!!!. I can't recall why, but a few years back I used them for a day and it was like $5 phones compare to my grey ghosts. I'm talking the sound, nothing to do with the cord.

Thanks everyone, yes interestingly enough the rings a spinner, and yes bigr I think I would have found the same with the 350, the targets weren't real deep. Its like driving a Ford vs Lincoln they'll both get you there but the Lincoln's got bling.

Always interested in hearing how people make out upgrading from a machine similar to mine (Ace 250). Glad it's working out well for you. Any new machine takes a while to get used to.
