I tried doing this today and i got erratic beeping. I tried to stay away from things in the house that would have nails in them obviously. It seems like it beeps for no reason sometimes and the display would change a bajillion times while beeping. Sometimes it was right but I didn't even really notice a diff. in beep sounds really!! I just grabbed a gold ring, a nail, penny, dime nickel and quarter and pop can.
I am wondering if this thing is ok or if i just can't do it right. !! |

Do you have a wireless router WIFI ? that can cause a problem . Fluorescent lights can also cause the problem . Your cell phone can cause it also. Those are the most common causes in a home .
hope this helps. Justin. __________________ |

Your sensitivity level is probably too high. There is a huge amount of radio and electrical interference inside buildings, plus whatever you laid it on probably had metal in it too.

I did that on Monday when my detector arrived. Couldn't figure out why it was beeping everywhere in the house.... Then I realized I have tile floors. Under the tile is a concrete slab... Rebar.

What type of unit do you have? The old ones are tuned manually, the newer one are mostly automatic. When you tune/turn on the unit, keep it off the ground, and away from all metal or any other MD unit that's on. If the unit is still breaking up, you may have a component in the unit that is loose and causing the trouble. Call the company and see if they will check it out for you and what it will cost. They may be able to tell you what may be wrong with it over the phone. I had a problem with my old unit, and I called the company up, I sent the unit to them and got it fixed, it works better now than the new automatic unit I have. Bad switch.
Good luck. |

Trying to bench test ib the house is just wrong. A home has to many things built into it that will interfere with a detector also known as EMI, Electromagnetic interference.
Take you detector outside, turn it on and set it up like you would for a typical hunt. Lay the detector across the top of a plastic barrel or your plastic trash can. Do not try this under power lines, phone lines or close to any metal building. Once you have got that far you are now ready to test. __________________ I support New England Detectors U.S.A. call Andrew 1-888-734-1544 |
