Default Beach erosion Eyeball finds..Mercury dime

I went to detect Gilgo Beach but before I could get to the beach I went to take a few pics. There is a small bar by the beach that is right at the entrance to Gilgo beach. The water during the storm was coming through the entrance tunnel and flowing over and through the deck in front of the bar. When the water came out from under the deck it eroded some of the sand and dirt.I was just looking at the debris in the cut when I saw a coin.I picked it up and it turned out to be a mercury dime.Needless to say I spent about a half hour looking through the cut.I found over $2.00 in clad but no more silver. There is too much junk there to try to detect so I didn't bother but I found more clad there by eye than I do on alot of beach hunts with my Excal.Just rember too keep your eyes open you never know where you will make a find.HH!

Great find. Last week we were out of town and did a quick hunt in a older looking park. Park was on a slope and I noticed a washed out area, so decided to try my luck. Found a wheatie (1930's I believe) on the top 2 inches. Had to leave due to time but would love to go back there.
