I'm 31 and in fairly good shape. But thanks for bringing that to my attention.

My personally #1 then would be the Cortés.

( you can also get EXcelerator coils for the Tesoro's --> http://www.kellycodetectors.com/acce...oroexcelerator )

I never favored the Tesoro's... till I swept one.

If there is a chance to sweep both at a dealer, try 'em both and then decide.

Good Huntin'

If price were the same.. MTX or Cortes?

I appreciate all the help you've given me so far.

Old School...... To answer this the best we need to know what kinda places and targets you want to go after. Coins? Gold rings? Relics? Beaches? homesteads??

I've been giving this a lot of thought lately for long term and I keep going circles so I can answer this with confidence. I live on a farm with several hundred acres. This is mostly tobacco fields, old barns, sheds, outhouses, old home sites including a trailer park that is now gone (on the edge of my land), and lots of woods. So I'd like to take my time and search everything, eventually. I have in the past by eye picked up a few older silver coins and arrowheads so this tells me surely there's more to discover. Never been searched either so you never know.

Other than that.. parks with tot lots and schools. So it would be nice to have either both a budget detector for the tot lots and a mid-end detector for the farmland --- or a single detector that doubles duty with a coil swap.

This is why I was leading to either the Compadre and Cibola/Vaquero --- or something like the MTX or Cortes for everything. I will also most likely be buying from you guys.

About the targets- I'm mostly interested in coins, with jewelry coming in second and last (meaning I'll gladly take it but rather have a nice coin find). Not interested in relics and I may take it along with me to the beach a week or two out of the year to search dry sand just for fun but it's not a priority for me.

Neither was I until a button find paid for my detector about 1 month in! That changed the game. Being in an old area relics make up a very high % of the best things you can and will find.

I owned an mxt and it didn't impress me with it's depth. I owned a deleon which is basically a cortes without gb. I did not like it but I think the lack of ground balance is what made it also lacking depth. The 705 is deep, but doesnt have quite as good of an id system as the deleon or the mxt. If i were to buy new I would buy the 705. If used I would buy a safari.

Your probably right. Being that I'm new to detecting, but have a high interest in coins.. you can see me being all giddy for coins at the start. But I'm sure once I find something like an old button or buckle that will get me hooked. One thing at a time, but I can see where your coming from.
