Default In the Treasure Corner - Treasure Hunting Safety

I've been hesitant to do a show on this topic, because, frankly, I think most treasure hunters will find it boring. Who amongst you enjoyed Traffic Safety Class in high school?

Treasure hunters want action and excitement, not lectures on how to stay safe in the field.

But I've been asked, so I have answered. I'm predicting this episode will have fewer listeners than most - let's see if you prove me wrong.

Thank you, Dan.. I know from experience that one can come across a wide
variety of critters, insects, spiders, poisonous Lord-knows-what, and many,
many sharp objects.. When my machine starts talking to me, I have a
tendency to be less cautious than normal, and I've paid the price more often
than I'd care to admit..

First Aid is one of those things people tend to ignore until they need it.......

Is there much of a market for Second Aid?

Not a bad program, ya know, for one about safety. But after all, it is a safety program. Perhaps next week you can talk about gold coins and such haha.

OH! I don't know if it's your expertise, but some time you should do a video program showing how to overlay older and modern maps to find homesites. It's a tricky skill, one which I'm okay at in photoshop, but I'd love a better way or some tips if you have them.

Sorry, gtoast, I know nothing of Photoshop. If I had to do map overlays, I'd do it the old-fashioned way - print one of the maps on a clear overhead-projector film so I could place it atop the other map.

And thanks for listening to my show about, ya know, safety. My guess was that few people will want to hear safety tips, but I've had over a hundred listeners in the first day, which is about average for my shows.

Maybe some sparks will fly with my next show....

Anybody have any stories of dangers they have encountered when treasure hunting?
