Walgreens has an 8-pack of 9 volt ALKALINE batteries on sale for $7.99.
I wonder if these are the desired 9.6 volt version? Walgreen website sez "Made in Malaysia". Experience with these??? FjLee Denver CO |

Well, it definitely sounds like a good deal. 9 volts are not cheap. All you can really do is get them and try them.
What was the Brand name on them? I don't usually shop at Walgreens. But chances are, because of the price, they're probably about the same quality as batteries you would get at Big Lot or Harbor Freight type stores. __________________ |

Well, I decided to give these Malaysian 9 volt batteries a try. An eight-pack for $8 is tempting!! The packaging and the batteries themselves have the Walgreen's logo on 'em.
I took my voltmeter with me. They showed a consistent 9.52-9.55 VDC no-load voltage, and had a “use by” date of 2016. The batteries themselves are marked as being ALKALINE. The battery packaging sez: "100% satisfaction guaranteed with all Walgreen products or your money back." So Mr. Walgreen and Blondie can expect to see me again if these batteries give me sub-par performance. So I bought a single 8-pack. Ummmmmm……they rang up as costing $3.59 for the 8-pack....? Blondie the Cashier was talking on her cell phone as we conducted our transaction. I asked her if this $3.59 was the correct sale price…… She acted ticked-off that I was interrupting her phone chat….and replied “That’s what the computer sez”. Sooooo…..FjLee sez……”Maybe I better have another pack of those.” Got the last 8-pack on the shelf and they rang up as the same price again. End of story is that I got 16 each 9.52 volt batteries for 48.4 cents each, out-the-door, including sales tax. Now if they will just power my MD and pin-pointer for a reasonable length of time, I’ll be double-happy!! FjLee Denver CO |

I have done that and they didnt work with my F2. Now I stick to the name brand ones. I think they were Heavy Duty or something like that, but just wouldnt work with my F2.... prob would work fine for a pin pointer tho

I got some weird brand I think it was roundy's for my Minelab X-Terra 70, it takes 4 AA batteries. They lasted a couple outings maybe a maximum of 12 hours. From my current set of Duracell batteries I am pushing at least 20 hours and I still have full bars.

I have used them in my F2, Vaquero, and Propointer.
They work fine, and I have never done any scientific tests on these, but it seems they don't seem to last as long as the Energizers that I usually buy at Costco. At that price, hey, just throw another one in when they weaken so still a great value. About the post on heavy duty batteries. These are a total ripoff and are not the same as alkaline. They will work in flashlights and some other products, they won't work at all in others, but even though they are cheaper, the much longer life of alkalines makes them a much better value if you can get them at a decent price. Also keeping batteries in the fridge to make them last longer is an old wives tale and scientific tests have been done by respected companies that have disproved this idea. All that does is make your batteries cold.

Walgreen batteries are to me the best bang for your buck. I've tried em all in all my toys and bar none I get the best life out of them hands down in all sorts of battery powered equipment. When you find the 36 pkg of AA for 10 bucks on sale I scoop em up. I keep a back stock of em in the house and truck. Try em you'll love em

I recently bought some everready 9 volt batteries from Walgreens with a coupon for around $4 for a two pack, I got 4 packs so felt like it was a good deal. Have now gone through them and for my machine, which takes 2, I get around 25 hours per pair....not bad.
But I got to looking online and I found Coppertop Alkaline 9 volts 10 for 17.00 with shipping paid on ebay, so I bought them. Am on the first pair of them now so will keep track of hours on them to see how they compare. I think the Ct bats were made in Tiawan but most bats are nowdays. Anytime I can get any namebrand bats for less than $2 each, I think that is a good price, so long as the shelf date is at least a couple years out! __________________ |
