Default What is the ULTIMATE beach machine?

After digging a ton of bottle caps over the past few nights, i've got to wonder: is there an ultimate beach machine? By this I mean: good depth, ultimate discrimination and a visual id, preferably lcd screen with depth and accurate id? The fully waterproofed minelab E trac of the beach hunter if you will...
I'd really like to know "okay, it's a penny at 18 inches', so i can LEAVE IT.
I'm not bitter or anything, i just want to know what machine out there comes the closest...
Thanks in advance!

The thing about beach detecting is that detectors have a tendency to "lie" to ya.

So we wound up just getting a PI and digging everything that beeps.

Probably the best machine they ever made for the beach... with discrimination... was the CZ20.

It does not exist in a waterproof package. I guess in theory the excalibur 2 has the features minus the display. I dig everything and have gotten quite used to the 100 bottle cap days. Eventually there will be no more of them. In all honesty you have to dig every target at the beach. There is no way to differentiate age when the objects are in sand. You can guess and therorize but you will miss gold that way.

Minelabs do really well.... Explorers, E-trac, Safari, Sovereign... anything with multiple frequencies.

Fisher CZ's do well also due to their dual frequency technology.

There are factors that keep this from being an easy question to answer.

weight (swinging all day weight matters)
Water proof vs non (This includes hunting in the rain)
PI vs VLF (Some beaches are loaded with iron)
Some people hate a different tone

NO detector does it all. If I had to pick one it would be the excal.
But I'm going to have to mod it first. Especially that stock rod!

Take a look at the Excalibur II ,it is waterproof and has good discrimination + depth . Has no screen it is a tone machine ,but trust me you don't need it
Once you learn the tones you will be able to tell what you about to dig ,and it nulles over iron ,so no more bobby pins Tons of hunters use them and love them ,the other version is its brother Sovereign GT it is not waterproof ,everything else is almost the same .Good luck and HH

Thanks all. I was really just asking to see if such a machine exists.
I've got two nice machines coming in to me on the 16th of june, can't wait to try both and see the difference.

The best beach detector is the one swinging over the gold item. Smarts and luck count for more in metal detecting than machine. Any decent detector will work if you can put yourself on the targets. That said, I prefer PI over multi-frequencies but would not feel unarmed with either one if I could only have one.

Not the answer you were looking for but an Ace 250 is better than any Minelab if the operator is standing over good items. That's the real trick....locating gold.

What is the ultimate beach machine? I think the tahiti would be fun!

Sorry about that I just couldn't resist!

I wish I could offer you some advise here. But it is really hard to find a beach in the middle of Kansas.
