Default Greetings from Japan!

Hi all!
I'm an expat living in japan, on and off for the last 10 years or so. Got a lot of free time, and this hobby looks like a great way to spend it!
IIUC, there is no real metal detecing "scene" in Japan, so more fun for me!
It appears the best option is to order through EBay. Here's a good one, Ace 250, with a modest shipping fee:

What do you think? Any general advice for a new hobbyist?
I'm still working on where to hunt. There is a 400 year old castle in our town, which might be neet to poke around. The nearest high-volume-visitor beach is about 2 hours drive away. Any hints?

Thanks, and have fun!

P.S. - actualy, my first (and only) metal detector was was from Radio Shack in the 80's. Found a crushed pop can covered in moss once! lol
