Default Introduction

Hi all,

I just found this forum after getting interested in metal detecting. So far it looks like a lot of good information and helpful folks.

I live in an area that I think would be fruitful for relics and while I'm not looking to get rich, finding a coin or two might keep me happy.

I'm looking at the ACE250 as a basic rig. Any thoughts?

Looking forward to the conversation!

relix

Welcome to the forum. You will have all kinds of advice here but they need to know a few facts first,
Where are you located, soil condition, any beach hunting, what are you looking for e.g. jewelry, coins relics etc. How much are you looking to spend, all info helps the experts give you the best advice. Good luck!

Well, I'm in New England, searching primarily farmland. I have an old foundation on my land I'd like to look at and some other foundations I know about. How do you get permission? Wait, I saw a forum on that. I'll read up.

Trying to stay on dry land for now, but definitely want to hit the beach at some time. If I'd be in water at all, it would be less than 4 inches or so.

Starting out, I'll be looking for anything. Over time, I'll settle for older hand tools, rusted pocket knives, colonial debris and other rusted junk. Just looking to have fun. Coins or jewelry would be icing on the cake, too. Thanks!

Welcome relix. One other thing when buying a detector is what is your price range.

Welcome Relix, I run an Ace250, I use mine primarily around fresh water lakes and parks hunting coins. From what I have read I in this forum one would probably need a something other than the Ace250 if you planned on hunting around / next to the ocean.

Welcome to the forum, Relix!

I use an ACE 250 and it is an excellent machine for hunting parks and other land. I've never used it in shallow water or the beach, but for farms it should work well.

Welcome to the hobby--Good luck and HH!
