Not having a pinpointer yet, I am looking to acquire one.

I use a Bullseye II. Personally I don't want my pinpointer to be too sensitive otherwise it wouldn't pinpoint very well. Nothing worse than putting the end of your pinpointer in the hole and having it buzz non-stop in any direction.

I like the Vibra Probe fo $99. Nothing to adjust, waterproof, easy to use. Hold it up to cut it on and it cuts off after 1 min of no use, that is, no detecting metal. Don't have to hear it as it vibrates when it detects.

Useful perhaps, but certainly not comprehensive or even unbaised since it appears that site leads to only one conclusion - Buy the treasure mate.
Which might be well founded I dont know, having never used one.
If your not inclined to spend in the 3 digits for a very useful but basically simple tool, have a look at this http://www.billsdetectorsales.com/pinpointers.html [its the one shaped like a gun].
Has audio/vibrating/visual alert, adjustable sensitivity, and a useful detection range of say a quarter sized object from about half an inch to over an inch.
And the below $50 price tag cannot be beat.
Not trying to ruin any sales here, but this forum is all about info and options, and this is certainly an option in my book.
Have used it for over a year with nothing but great results - And I would really have to see vast improvements and features to consider spending 4 X that amount on something else.
Just keep in mind that, whichever one you chose, they are all fairly delicate instruments and do not take the abuse typically associated with retrieving objects out of the groud very well.

I have only used the one that Xray decribes for several months and have been happy with it. But to each his own. The others mentioned are good pinpointers but for the cash I like the less expensive one.

I recently received an early birthday gift, which was a White's Bullseye II Pinpointer. I used it Saturday all day, and absolutely love it. I would imagine I've missed a number of good finds without using it. JMHO

I'm sure they are all fine units. I have the BE-II, and although I only use it in the sand, I like it. It came with my detector, and I'm not dissapointed at all with it.

I have a vibraprobe 560 and love it!!! It has aided almost every find since i recieved it!!! The one thing I really like is that it is waterproof to 30 feet deep!! I like going to the beach in the summer, and short of spending $500+ on an underwater detector, I can swim around with this little gem.....works great!!!

I got a Bullseye II last summer (remember that word ?), and it's great. Mrs. Santa got me a Sunray X-1 for Xmas, which serves as a mini coil through my detectors electronics. On targets up to 3-4 inches, you can surface scan the target and pop it out, Saves a LOT of time!!! Can't be beat chasing small stuff in a hole either!!!! Keeps you numbers updated as you dig iffy targets so you can abort when you know it's trash.

Its a bit out of date....my favourite was the Periscope now no longer made and I liked the Vibra Probe 560 though its another heavy one and pulse based (I think) so might not get on with an P.I. detector you have.

I was looking at a bullseye II for 69 clams, plus shipping, I know they go for more than that, the other was a 12mm whites, but it was 20 bucks more. There was also the sherlock for a little less, but it didn't have the vibration deal. , but seemed almost more compact and less likely to get injured. Are the pointers made of fairly sturdy plastic or poly- resin. I haven't a clue. smg

Amen on the Vibraprobe 560 "Paluch" I use mine all the time in the water, however, I usually have my detector with me too. They are fantastic for water pinpointing.

smg...my White's Bullseye II was $129.95, I believe. It was a birthday gift, but I picked it out on the internet. I love it. Not sure of the material, but not cheap-like plastic. Very, very sturdy, and I bought a holder for it that is $9.95, and well worth it. It keeps out dirt, etc. from the main part that you hold, etc. It can either beep or vibrate. I personally enjoy the beep. LOL!

smg...I found the box my Bullseye II came in. The features are:
Rugged high-impact case
Target Sensitivity Control
Super-bright LED light
Tough, double-sealed on/off membrane switch

Waterproof 120 mm probe with two full collar supports
(just the probe part is waterproof, not the whole
thing)
Two operating modes: audio tone and vibration
20 hours on one 9 volt battery.

I've used mine almost daily since first part of Feb., and I haven't changed the battery yet in it, since I put the first one in.

Since my Bullseye II went down and out (sending in for repairs as it is still under warranty) I purchased a Vibra Probe 560. I must say the VP is a friggen monster compared to the B II! It turns itself on fairly quickly so that isn't much of an issue (to me) but I do not like when it turns itself off when probing for a coin Nothing like getting a buzz and think you are over the object, only to get a second quick buzz indicating it is now off. Threw me off the first few times but then I got used to it.
