Sweet. Do the research, hit the good spots, and you will pay for that machine in no time! Or just become a tot-lot warrior. Fun times... Congrats on new machine/hobby. Glad to share the addiction!

Aces are good detectors. Yes the next thing for you to do is figure out where you are going to detect at. Research, research, research. This is how you find the old sites

Some more advice. The DVD will tell you to run in the all metal mode and dig all signals. I say leave the all metal alone until you get some experience with the machine. Run it in the coin mode and dig all repeatable signals. Turn your sensitivity down to 4 bars. Now this setting will let you find coins without the detector falsing. Have fun and cherry pick your sites with this set up. Then when you have a ton of coins and experience move up to the jewelry mode then to thr relic mode. Remember the Ace 250 is very sensitive and running the sensitivity up past 5 bars will make it a little jittery. Oh, keep your coil about 1/2 to 1 inch off the ground and very level across the full length of your sweeps.

Good luck with your new machine.... do not expect (although not impossible) to find gold and silver your first time out... just learn the machine, relax and have fun. RickO

I've heard so many good things about the Ace 250 that I just bought one as a backup machine for my XLT.

i have to backup what khouse said. leave it in coin mode and on 4 bars. you will dig all you can stand in this mode. i have had mine for 3 yrs and it is still in coin mode. and in case you are worried that you won't dig any jewelry, all of this was found in coin mode in the fist 12 months that i had the machine.
