Wow, sounds ambitious. I grew up in Seabrook and cities all around Houston. We spent many a trips on the shores of Galveston, the Texas City Dike, Port Aransas, etc. There is a lot of rusty piling nails and trash all along many of the coast line areas. And with the hurricane from a couple years ago, I suspect even more iron and trash to be mixed into the sands. I don't think I would even attemp to search that areas. But I wish you the best of luck.

Just returned from Port Aransas Sunday. MDing is illegal anywhere on the Gulf national seashore, and I've heard they will confiscate your equipment. Very frustrating, but I did my homework before I went and left the MD at home so I wouldn't be tempted!

Yeah, it stinks. The Texas Gulf coast is the longest stretch (800 miles) of undeveloped seashore in the World! And you never see any MDers there. Which makes it all the more frustrating!!!

I have done it in Corpus/North Padre. Also there used to be a detector store/club in Fort Worth who would take group trips to different places along the Texas Gulf coast after storms, mainly in the winter, and they never had a problem. First I have heard of that law. Wonder how long it has been on the books and why?

Default Gulf National Seashore..

Yes, you are correct, you cannot hunt on the National Seashore.
But the National Seashore is not the entire Gulf Coast.
The National Seashore is the Water Equivelent to National Parks or National Forest...
You can hunt the Beaches and Shorelines in Texas it completely legal.
Just stay out of the National Shoreline Parks or you will be in serious trouble.

Dude, forget the beach. You need to hunt all of the abandoned old churches and building in that town. They are everywhere. It's almost ghost-townish ... kinda weird ...
