Default My first "Two Cent Piece" plus other finds!!

Felllow MDer's,

Took the day off and MD most of the day at a couple of the older houses I work on here in Owego. No silver, but still had some good finds. My best find was an 1864 "2 Cent Piece", not in the greatest shape but still an exciting and first find for me. Rang up a solid 75 VDI on my DFX. Came out of the ground real encrusted and I thought it was a token because of its almost quarter size, suprised when I washed it a bit and saw the big "2". Found some more wheats today - '18, '20-d, '23, '30-s, '34, '41, '45, '47, and a '48. Found a real nice solid brass mouse that hit like a solid silver dime. Also, found a nice oriental coin made of aluminium - no idea how old it is or if its worth anything (help Encrusted Yen). Also had the usual newer coins that I wished were all silver and wheats - maybe next time. Enjoy the pics and HH

Nice finds and an awesome 2 cent piece. I'd love to find one of those some day.

Wow, that's a great hunt. You don't see dug 2 cent pieces every day. Congrats!

Thanks for the feedback guys. As for the cap I thought it was something special too, looks to be lead or tin covered with silver. I say lead because it is heavy for its size. Definately a cap to a bottle as it is threaded.

From the land of the Bluenose...nice assortment of finds especially the 2 cent piece. Mouse is different and not an every day type of find. Maybe that spot is worth another look see.
