Default Any ideas on this wierd thing?

Found this today. Waited till I got home to open it hoping it was some kind of coin holder of course but that was not to be. Hey, can dream can't I? lol
I can't even guess what it may have been. Maybe a locket that had photos?
Only thing I can think of.
Photo of front, back and inside.
Hinged with a loop.
Very odd.
Thanks

Isn't that one of those display holders for your 1st 2cent piece find?

It kinda Looks like an antique pill locket. I've seen something similar. It was used to hold medicine for easy emergency access(usually worn as a necklace). that's my two cents worth.

Looks like a coin holder to me. Too bad it wasn't filled with coins!

Great find!
