Default My First Pre-1900 Coin

Wow -- spent a few hours today at a local farm field, and found my first pre-1900 coin. I am so excited. It looks to be an 186X 2 cent piece.....I have it soaking in olive oil right now. Can't wait to see that last date digit.....

I have only been doing MD for about 6 weeks now, but I am hooked. Great, fun hobby. I will add this to my 1944 Merc dime I found 3 weeks ago...

All smiles today.....

It was about 8 inches deep....and I will post a picture when it is cleaned.

Now, I am no Simon yet, but someday I might get to his level......

Most likely it's an 1865 as that's the most common year.

I have one in my collection

WOW- Nice find Homerun

The 2006 red book has that baby valued at $110 for g-4 condition which yours certainly would grade at up to $225 for f-12 For f-12 grade the "e" in "We" on the motto has to be visible, weak but visible. Based on your picture - yours looks like it's almost completely worn off????? The pitting around the edge will probably subtract from the value as well.

either way, what a nice find..... congratulations

Nice 2 center Homerun! I've yet to find one of those, and you beat my oldest coin by 18 years! That ans a Merc are pretty good for just a few weeks into the hobby. Congrats on a great find!
