Default I'm not so new anymore, but I'm new here.

I found this site by accident when I was trying to locate the owner of a gold chain I found. I don't own a detector, but I sometimes rent one & may buy one soon. Here's the thread on the "lost" gold chain: http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=34072

I grew up in Chaplin, CT, & lived in various parts of CT for 52 years. Owned a house in Colchester, CT, sold it last fall during the crash & moved to Pembroke Pines, FL. I was hoping to semi-retire, but the economy took care of those plans. It took me 10 months to find a decent job down here & I'm back to doing what I did in CT for 25 years: fixing cars & light trucks at GM dealers.

My parents were antique dealers when I was growing up & I spent many weekends searching old (pre 1800) dumps for old glass bottles. We also used to walk the plowed fields in the spring looking for arrowheads & my dad has quite a collection of those. When I was 10 or so I spent my saved up summers lawn mowing salary on a metal detector. I think it was a Relco, but my dad ended up using it more than I did & I don't remember much about it.

Hopefully I'll buy a detector soon, but until then I'll keep posting my "eyeball" finds as they occur.

That is awsome Srey,

Good luck on findin tha owner.

I have found many peices of gold
and other types of jewelry, but I
almost never find the owner. It is
not for the absence of trying.

I would love to find the owner of a
lot of things I found. I know it would
mean a lot to some of them.

I l@@ked for a while before I found
a bracelet like that, but I did, in late
July of this year,

I felt so weak in the knees when I found
that, I actually fell down,

Tabdog

I did find the owner, read this thread: http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=34072

Yeah, I got lucky finding that necklace, with my eye's no less & in a search zone 200' x 1000', 1/4 of which was underwater. I may never find anything again that compares with it, detector or not. Plus, when you find the first item of substantial value, you always remember it - because it was your first.

Your bracelet certainly looks nice and I know what you mean, it's quite a rush to find something like that.
