Default I just got permission to hunt here!!! Hatfield house.

Hi everybody, I must be one of the luckiest people in the world. I just got permission to hunt a 15th century mansion, not just any mansion though, this place is called Hatfield house and it has been home to kings, queens and many other important people and is probably most famous for being the place where queen Elizabeth 1st, heard the news of her accession to the throne. I have got permission from Lord Cecil the brother of Lord Salisbury who owns the house to use my metal detector in the grounds of the house. Lord Cecil lives in Hatfield palace which is in the grounds of Hatfield house. Who knows what I could find? I really can't wait to go and hunt here. You can read about the history of the house here. http://www.hatfield-house.co.uk/Hist...p?S=2&V=1&P=96

Well done Goddard, I hope you make some really good finds. We visited the house a few years ago, very nice it is too.
I wonder if any conditions were imposed ? ie. If you make any good finds, do they go on display in the house ?

I am still waiting for the full terms and conditions, as well as written permission. I got permission to hunt here because the chef and house keeper of Hatfield house is a very good customer at the place where my dad works, my dad asked him if he thought it would be ok to use my metal detector in the grounds of the house and he said he would ask Lord Cecil, as he was cooking for him that evening. Later on that day my dad received a phone call saying that it was ok for me to hunt in the grounds and I would be given full written permission as soon as possible.

When I get written permission; I will ask for full details of where I can hunt and what will happen too the finds.

From a personal point of view, if I were doing it I would like anything interesting to go on display in the house. After it's been recorded with the PAS.
I hope all goes well, and don't forget to keep us posted on events.

I agree; anything interesting really should be on display for everyone to see and enjoy. It would be cool to visit the house and see something I found on display! I will be sure to post any finds I make as soon as I can. It probably won't be until the summer holidays that I can go there.
