Question Question about Ft Myers beaches

I going there this summer for vacation. Does anyone know of any restrictions or weird laws. I really don't want to ruin my stay by having my MD taken away.
Thanks, DFX Bob

I did some quick research. Apparently you can only MD on Ft. Myers beaches in the nude. (Boy, can't wait to see the look on those cops faces.....)

You will have no problems, the only problem you may have is pushing all the other folks with detectors out of the way, but you are fine. Just try filling in your holes and don't throw the trash back down and you should be fine.

If you go to Wiggins State park you are allowed to detect the wet and dry however cant get into the water or they will throw you out.....

A lot of snow birds have left so that's good, there are schools of sting rays swimming around there right now so that keeping some out of the water but yes it get hit hard day and night but you should still do OK there.... good luck

There are many other big beaches in the area don't overlook them.

Cool Bob,

Florida is 2 degrees cooler than hell in the summer. Do take all precautions.
The sand is hot, you need tennis shoes, a wide brim hat, lots of water, and don't forget, we sell sunblock by the barrel down here.......Be careful...Gil

DFX Bob......Hey there....Heres some more information for you. Most sand dunes, and state parks are off limits. Anything above the high water mark behind people houses are a no, no also, because that land usually belongs to the homeowner. If you dig a holes on the beach...be sure to fill it in. Some local officials are proud of their beaches and they they get honked off if it starts to look like it was carpet bombed. If a summer storm is comming, get off the beach pronto. Lightning is nasty down here and is a big killer. Even after the storm has passed..wait awhile before going back on the beach. But like FloridaBill said....you need beware of thoses pesty stingrays. Thoses little stingrays are like land mines. They bury themselves under the sand and you don't see them until you step on one. What works for us Floridians is what we call the Stingray suffle. Just shuffle your feet when walking around in the water instead of taking steps. If your detecting in the water, usually the coil head on the detector will scare them off. If you should see one take off...watch the direction it goes in. They will usually go just about a yard and then they will settle back down under the sand. Also, keep your eye the beach parking lot meter time if you have to use one of thoses bandits. Time can go by real fast at the beach and you don't want to get a ticket. Anyways, hope my information and what others members have told you has helped you out. Good luck hunting, enjoy your vacation down here and tell us what you find.
