Default probing the right way

I was just wondering if there's really a right way to probe :!:


Actually I found the quarter that way at a park close by lawn mower I'm thinkin.

I haven't heard of a proper way yet, but I wouldn't use a lawnmower blade....

Wow, that method is a lot better than my most recent tearing up a square foot of sod for 3 pennies....lol

At first I found it somewhat awkward, I have been using this method for years now.
I find it works great in nice parks, and we always get a thumbs up from the parks dept. folks

I started out using a screw driver but found that it does'nt take much to really (screw up) a coin or other object you may be looking for, This is what I'm using now and it has worked very well for the last year or so.

i personally find that my dog works pretty well probing for coins, i tell him to dig here and he digs, simple and effective, i just detect the dirt that flys out of the hole until i find my target.
