Being the cheapskate that I am I decided to make my own sand scoop. I tried it out on a couple of tot lots that were sand filled and it worked pretty good. How do you regular beach hunters think it will work on a beach?

It will probably work but looks to be quite heavy. If you use wire on the back that is the best for draining dry sand

I like it! Very resourceful. I think it will work well and I can not imagine it being that heavy since its only PVC.

Should work OK and I am sure the price was right. Having forgotten my $40 scoop on my last beach hunt. I would have been tickled to death to have had one like it.

good, and should work just fine in dry sand. I have made two similar scoops out of PVC also, only I put wire mesh in the bottom of the open pipe (no holes drilled) sand sifts out before you can get it up to look in it. I think I might make another like yours soon.
