Default Clay Encrusted Letter Opener

Found in the mud/clay area of a fresh water lake/pond. Any easy way to get the crud off?

Default cleaning

I clean very encrusted items, by soaking in vinegar...

Get a old cell phone charger and do electrolysis. By far the best results IMHO. Keep a eye on it as it goes though and stop it before it takes it down to bare metal so it still has the old look to it. Cool find!
