Default Question for Tony & all the other knowledgeable folks

Tony as you knowI traded my Ace250 in for a Prizm II - An earlier post you said that the Prizm isn't as deep as the Ace. I realize that there are alot of factors that determine depth, but how much depth will be lost with the Prizm compared to the Ace (ball park figure). Thanks! Steve.

! There is no scale that says the 250 will go this deep, and the prizm will only go this deep.! As you said, there are many factors that determine depth capabilities.

! !Both detectors are very capable of doing the job you intend them to do, and will find goodies (and junk).! I'm sure you had reasons you wanted the prizm, and I would not second guess that decision based on the thinking one will go deeper than the other.

! ! The most important factors in finding deep targets, is practice, and learning what the machine is trying to tell you.! A person who knows his $200 machine very well, will outdo a confused newb with a $1000 detector every time.

! The bottom line is the 250 and prizm are both good detectors capable of helping you to enjoy the hobby.!

Steelers right, comes down to knowing your machine and translating it's language. One thing about switching machines you learn alot more because you realize the real differences in the way different brands perform. One thing I always wanted to try with a Prizm II was to put the 9.5" whites coil on it to see if it would work. Target meter ID might be out but it would really get down there. If it worked.

The loss of depth as I know it overall would be a bout 1 to 2" in some cases. The Prizm II pinpoints much better right off the bat so you may not notice any depth loss. If you were to put the 9.5" coil on it you can expect similar depth to the Ace250 with again better pinpointing ability, The target ID is not affected by the replacement of the larger coil.
