I was wondering if anyone has ever been able to get permission to hunt at a Masonic Hall before?
There is one close to my house that was built around 1848. From 1848 until 1952 it was an old Methodist church. Then in 1952 the church relocated and this old building became a Masonic Hall. I would love to go hunting there, but I do not know the secret hand shake or the secret password. ![]() The only time that someone is in the building is when they have their meetings, which I think is on the 3rd Thursday of each month. It looks like it would be a great spot! __________________ |

Look up the board of club officers.. should be available. Then go directly to the top dude and ask.. always better to do it in person. RickO

Man Jay, you just read my mind. You dont live in Tx do ya?? I have one just down the street from me, and its an old church with a huge yard. I have never seen anyone at it, and wouldnt know who to ask permission.
Theres also another Masonic Hall / retirement home that was recently vacated. Its fenced off, and is now in the shadows of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. I really hope they dont tear it down, and if they do, I hope I get to hunt it first. If you get the password, be sure to let me know ![]() Justin |

You might want to offer to return any Masonic memorabilia that you find, if you're willing to do that. Good Luck.

Being a Mason, I would suggest that you ask to talk to the Master of the Lodge...... Most lodges are only open when they are having a meeting, or some other event..... at least in my area......
I'd suggest making an appointment to talk with him after the meeting, there's a lot of preperation before a meeting and you don't want to be in a rush situation..... you could also send, or drop off a letter to the lodge addressed to the Master of the lodge, as this permission may have to be voted on at a lodge meeting to see how the members feel about it..... I would not only promise to return to the lodge any Masonic items found, but I'd also offer to make a presentation to the members, before or after a meeting to fully explain to the whole lodge what you want to do and how you will do it.... I'd bring photos also.... They can be a tough group to get permission from.... But, it could be done if presented in the right way...... IF you know a Mason from the area... talk to him and see what he says about it..... you wont need the password or the hand shake to talk to a Mason outside the lodge.... but it wouldn't hurt if you did ! ![]() Sorry I can't pass that info on to you....

I agree with Benny. I'm mason as well and would ask permission from the lodge. I have been thinking about doing the same thing at my own lodge.

Also tell them you know Paul and Bennym. That ought to clench it.

If you know a mason have them ask for you
![]() ![]() I think a simple phone call would be enough....look online for your local chapter and it will list a few numbers{should anyway} just be willing to meet face to face and offer to do so...like mentioned in an earlier post your permission will probably have to be voted on by the lodge...but id say as long as you present yourself as a respectable person permission will be granted. our lodge was also a church before it was a lodge and before it was a church it was a lodge for the independent order of odd fellows. __________________ |

If you already are a friend of Hiram I'd say there would probably be little problem with hunting lodge grounds. I've MD'd the grounds of the lodge where I live (found a few cool things, nothing Masonic)and plan on checking the lodge grounds of others in the area, with proper permission of course.

Wow...I didn't expect to see so many responses!
Thanks for all of the tips and advice! I will have to check and see when their next meeting is. It might help that my grandfather used to be a Mason. He even had a Masonic Bible, which I thought was a little strange. I still don't understand exactly what Mason's do? Kind of a "Skull and Crossbones" type group? Maybe, I should peek through one of their windows and find out. ![]() On second thought, that might not be such a good idea.

Jay ~ If your Grandfather was a Mason.... you should be looking into joining too..... follow the tradition.... ?
"I still don't understand exactly what Mason's do?" and you never will until you become one.... ![]() " Kind of a "Skull and Crossbones" type group? " ![]() No. you have them confused with Bushes group from Yale "Maybe, I should peek through one of their windows and find out " I wouldn't advise something like that my friend..... you could become part of a stone wall.... Masons...get it...![]() ( I'm just funnin' with ya )
