Howdy folks,i have seen pic's of some of your guy's parks/totlots and been wanting to get some of mine on here so i finally did. It's called South Fentress County Park and it's pretty good size considering how small this town is.The large grassy open area inside of the walking track is FULL of Yard Sale Vendors for a weekend in August, when i say full i mean full.but that is where i found the 1921 morgan at is right on the inside of the track above the "8" in 2008 of the date on pic.but here is the "LUCK" token i found there and a cool button.Mayfields Dairy Farms is our biggest milk and dairy folks in this part of the country.Alot of grammar schools take field trips to the farms and factory to see how milk and ice cream is made and i would say some young'un lost it off there shirt or jacket. The token is cool too i think,i'm gonna keep it in my digg'un pouch.I didn't bother taking pic's of the clad i find there but i'm avereging atleast $1.75-$2.50 almost everytime.C-YA'LL and HH....Bobby

Nice Good Luck charm. I think they used to knock out the center and put a penny in it's place...interference fit.

That little notch is for threading a chain. The chain was like a pull chain on a lamp...only longer. It's likely from the '40's or 50's...I had a similiar one when I was a little kid.

An "interference fit" is where an object (in this case, a penny) is going to be placed in a hole (in this case, the charm) and the outside diameter of the penny is slightly larger than the inside diameter of the hole. Old timers used to call it a "press fit". Once the object is literally forced into the hole, it stays.
Not a highly technical explaination, but I'm an electronics guy...aka a "Tweak". __________________ Last edited by Lowjiber; 11-16-2008 at 10:27 AM. Reason: corrected poor english |
