So a few years ago I had bought this charger to charge the excal batteries faster. http://www.onlybatterypacks.com/show...temID=12515.48
Works great and I love it. Works so good that I tried to make it a car charger. So I bought some nice female and male ends and rigged it so I could switch a car charger back and forth onto the charger. Bought this car charger and can't seem to get it to work as a car charger though.http://www.onlybatterypacks.com/show...emID=10147.61p Still works with the normal plug when connected, so I know my connections r solid. Is there just not enough juice going from my car to charge it or is it something with the charger I purchased? Any help? __________________ |

THink I got it fixed. Works fine in my girlfriends car but e charging light doesn't activate in my car. Gonna take a multi meter to it tomorrow to see if its charging or not when used in my car. Trying to get prepped for hittinghte beach after the storm.

Next time buy you an inverter to plug into the cigarette lighter. That way you can charge any detector or brand without spending any more money.Computers and cellphones too!

I was looking at them for awhile and I couldn't sell myself on them. The good ones were over 50 bucks, bulky, and loud because they have a fan. Know it could be handy though.

Sounds like a car issue. If it works in her car, but not yours... could be a voltage issue within your vehicle. Have you compared power draw to both vehicle's outlets? Maybe one is pulling more than the other.

i thought it was working in hers but is not. The cigaret lighter part is getting voltage and lighting up but the charger is not. Im an idiot and forgot about ac and dc power, the car is dc and the charger runs on Ac. I made a contraption out of a old car charger a an old computer charger hooked the two together so i can hook the battery to the charger in the car, seems to work, but could be very slow at charging. time will tell.

Oh yeah... that will do it! Without the proper rectifiers (to step down voltage) you could potentially run into problems.
Make sure your DC is between 11 -13 volts. Also remember, that using DC to charge items with usually results in an incomplete charge, and while sometimes faster to charge, won't hold as long as it would had it been charged with AC power. |
