Hey there..............I used to live down there....In TN now though. I can tell you though that all of the parks in Harris county(Houston area) is off limits to metal detecting. There used to be a metal detecting club in Tomball which is outside of Houston they may still have it going on. In Waller County there is a park in Hempstead you can look at, my brother found several rings both silver and gold there. About once every couple of years Liendo Plantation in Hempstead has an organized relic hunt. It has a bit of civil war history too. Also your not too far from Galveston you should have some luck there. Good luck and HH. Tim

All public parks are off limits? Wow, whats the reasoning behind that? Sure is gonna take the fun out of living there.

Yea believe you me it stinks and it is just another one of those things that the powers that be are trying to put their stinking thumbs on. Heck here in the town I live in it is the same way, the first thing when you go into the park it a sign that says no metal detectors, then alcholic beverages and firearms and so on. Like we detectorist are the worst of the line up on the "don't do list" HH, Tim

I'm down here in Clute, Brazoria County. You can hunt the Parks here except Camp Mohawk. A employee told me it is a historic site. I've been to Quintana, San Luis Pass County Parks, and Surfside Beach. If you don't want to buy a pass to drive on Surfside go to Stahlman Park and walk onto the beach. I hunt the parks In Lake Jackson, when there are few people around, but they filled the places with metal laden fill dirt. Been hunting the trail along the Brazos River off Maclean Park. Found some relics and a dime and have only hit a fraction of the place.

Pm me if you want to come down here. Got a hunt buddy in Beumont from Alabama. He's looking for places there too.
