Just noticed on White's site the Coinmaster GT. If I wanted to stick w/Whites maybe this would be the way to go. Anyone hear of this one before?

It is a new that they have come out with and also has some great features plus a couple of hundred less than the Prizm 6T. HH, Tim

Thanks Tim, never heard of it til yesterday. Might be a nice upgrade, low enough price to feel like I can try it one season before moving up to the $500+ range. Actually low enough that it could have been a good choice for a 1st machine if it had been around. Maybe I can find some reviews on it.

I looked at the specs and price as well. Very impressive! Might be my new next season machine

I think the addition of auto ground balance might help me in this area (kinda rocky in places deep down where silver would be). Of course there are other machines which might have this feature in the same price range.
I got turned on to Whites by another dectorist I know, but his is quite old, but has sent it back for service a few times and has raved about their service. I guess it was quite the machine in it's day. He rants about how expensive machines are now, although he does say the few hundred dollars he spent 20ish years ago was a lot of money back then. Upshot is there is no real reason for me to stick with Whites, but I could give them one more try, and if I don't like it move on to a different brand. I am definitely learning the ropes with my coinmaster. __________________ |

I have not tried a coinmaster at all but I have looked at them and held them and they really do seem alot better built than other beginner type starter units. I am a big whites fan but it took a while for me to realize it and only after trying out a lot and I mean a lot of other machines of the 4 major name brands. It does not hurt to try other units and compare them. I would suggest trying other models but get the best one you can afford even if it is a used one. I think the new coinmaster comming out has alot going for it especially that large VDI number read out. If you have never tried a unit that has a numerical target ID then I would suggest you try to get one. Also a unit that has ground adjustment or automatic ground tracking like alot of the mid to upper range units have. Having a ground adjustment really helps out. Good luck, Tim

I've always thought the coinmaster i have is a comfortable machine, weight and balance. Even my wife held it like she was going to sweep (has never tried detecting though) and commented that you don't even know you're holding it.

Instead of starting another thread, I will post a sort of "in passing" sort of note here.
I thought, when i had purchased the Coinmaster I have now, that Whites had a sort of trade-in sale where they would give you a discount or cash offer for your old machine. So I emailed Whites and asked if this is something they do. And got just a real weak answer concerning "checking eBay or Craigslist" for the current value of my old machine. In the past I have also received replies like this that sound like they really don't care if I buy from them or not. Sort like what I've heard about buying a Ferrari, that they want you to want their car a lot worse than they want to sell it to you. __________________ |

The Coinmaster GT looks like a great detector for the price. Maybe they meant you could get more for yours by selling it outright than trading it in, kind of like buying a car. If you have a dealer close by, stop by and ask them. My local dealer takes trade ins. White's has their holiday coupons out as well. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy hunting.

Just an FYI , we just got Holiday stock today and I took it out a few hours ago . I must say I like the platform and the performance so far. Balance is good I like the battery design adds balance to the unit.
To soon to give a fair comparison on its performance but I will keep you informed of our testing. Andrew __________________ |
