I am the hunt master for my club's fall beach hunt. We have a system where we have 3-4 hunts within our 2 hour time frame. What are some activities that you do with your club? Do you play any unique games? Some additional input would be greatly appreciated.

Quote:
Blindfold a group of people, and have them try to MD with headphones on only. No pin pointers allowed. Spin them around a few times, point them in the right dirrection then have them sweep an area you have already set up for the game. They must sweep, find and dig the 'treasure' up, by sense of sound and feel only. Works great in beach areas only. One with the most treasure wins. You can trick them by adding some items that do not count, such as hotwheel cars, pull-tabs, tin foil ect. They must find the buried coin (treasure), and every trash item they dig up add 5 seconds to their time. "Trash Or Treasure." This is a mine field full of trash. Buried within, under, around or near the trash is the treasure you seek. You must try to dig only treasure, but if you dig trash, you must give up one of your treasures. The one with the most treasure at the end of game wins. We're talking tin foil, machbox cars, bobbypins, bottle caps, pulltops, fake jewlery and anything else that sounds like treasure, but isn't. The one with the most trash cleans up the rest of the field. ![]() Just a few to think about....

The club I belong to is one of the oldest in the country, (1976), and I believe one of the best.
We have a night hunt on Saturday and 2 one hour hunts on Sunday over much larger areas with a kids hunt in between. The Sat. hunt is a fun hunt over a small area in the dark, and the club president sets different rules every year. Sometimes it is no pinpointers, sometimes it is no headlamps...stuff like that. This year it was pinpointers and headlamps allowed...but no headphones. This hunt was a blast and also funny as all get out. Not only were there several people in a very small area bumping into each other with beeping going off all over and cross-talk noise too, but they added another little twist to the hunt this year. About 3/4's of the area was covered with webbing, the kind that is used around Halloween for displays. Despite what you might think, this stuff is tough and hard to cut through. Not only did we have all the beeping, digging and jostling going on, several members got their coils tangled up in this thing and it was hilarious to watch them trying to extract themselves from it. So they tell me, anyway. I was watching the ground most of the time digging all signals I came across trying to avoid that webbing. The next day in the main hunts not only did we have several silver coins and wheaties buried, but a little over 100 tokens which were memorial pennies that were painted red on one side with numbers stamped into the other side. On top of that, the officers buried a couple of keys and a spark plug which got the finders some special prizes. __________________ |

This is probably not exactly what you're looking for but back in the early 80's we ran a Road Hunt - a cross between a road rally and a treasure hunt. We scouted out some really unique localities and out of the way spots and planted marked tokens in a small area of the grounds. Participants used 'rally' type directions to locate the area. Once there directions were given as to what area of the ground to search. Once the person or team found a token they could move onto the next location. If you couldn't locate the token you could move on anyway but the team with the fastest time and the most tokens won the event. We had an absolute ball and we could could start teams out in totally different directions depending on the route directions they got. The hunt could be as long or as short as you like. We once did an overnighter which took some of the participants to places that no man had gone before.

Our club just permitted Minelab to do a presentation at the last meeting. In exchange they donated an Exterra which is going to be given away in a drawing at the upcoming hunt.
