Default AT PRO at a freshwater beach Questions on how to

How will this work exactly. Where would my GB be, and will the tones come up like dirt digging or will they be way off? I've never hunted a beach before, sorry for the stupid questions.

Not dumb, figure not a person on here could tie a shoe until they were taught. I too am waiting to hear the specifics of this, if there are any differences...

ground balance often, also GB when going from dry sand to wet sand or to the water. what i always did was auto GB and then drop it down about 5 numbers manually (if it GB at 20 i'd manually drop it down to 15), if its still chatty on the wet sand just try droppin the sensitivity down a notch or two. tones won't change and will be the same as if your dirt diggin.

I just auto GB then start scanning, i try to keep away from the water unless thats what i want because if your scanning 3" above the water line and your find is 6" deep your looking at a wet hole.

The AT Pro has permormed well, i have pulled up many coins and finds with no trouble in both the wet and dry sand, just remember to GB in each.

I havnt done the water yet but its coming up with all the people going in and out but according to the tips and instructions just treat it like wet sand, GB and pinpointing and make sure you have a good scoop with just the right angle for pushing with your foot....oh and make sure you have fresh silicone for your connections for the ear phones and coil and battery box....sometimes they get gritty so its best before you start that day to wipe off the silicon and put fresh on to avoid leaks

Every time I see silicon mentioned I think of of stuff like caulk for windows or tubs but that can't be right. At the risk of sounding dumb could somebody explain or give an example of what they use? I have an At Pro and some fresh water areas I would like to hit.

I think I found the answer in another post. It took a minute to sink in but I'm slow like that sometimes.

Get into the water, find a clear spot and ground balance it under water. If its chattery bump it up or down 3 or 4 points. I was just in lake michigan today and it auto GB'd at 89 I bumped it back to 86 and ran it all day like that.

As for the tones they are the same, iron, mid and high. A coin still sounds like a coin underwater. Another thing is use the headphones, I hate using them on land but its pretty much a must in the water.

Get a good scoop and good luck!

We are talking freshwater not salt right regarding OP?
Irons, you nailed it! It's funny you say 86. I auto GB and then move it a little to 86 as well.

Hey there Mama2 you guys and your 5x8 coils finally broke my resistance and I have 2 of them arriving Wednesday, one for each machine.

I'll post in the AT Pro sub group how I like them.

My machine always comes in at my local lake at 93...dry sand 93, wet sand 93, even had me worried till i went to a local beach recently and it went all the way down to 34....ill have to drop it a few to see if i can get those little bitties...i keep thinking im missing gold ear rings.

I know that ive had the head in the water before and still its not gone jittery but acted the same as wet sand and found the same coins or fishing weights, hooks or ring pulls.

Only wet salt sand did it not like..i had to notch out everything above 80 to get it back under control...and auto gb didnt help at all..ive heard since that i should drop the sens down to 2 or 3 bars to stop the saltwater from driving it bonkers but im thinking eventually ill get a sea only machine and keep my baby for dry sand ans wet dirt only

Go to your local hardware store and get a tin of silicon grease. Use liberally.
