Let me close desription my and my wife finds. First, three Austro-Hungarian medals are a) bronze stuff medal No.1 is war-medal made at 25. jubille of the emperor Franz Joseph I. took the rule. Had been intended for every soldier any rank who attended between 2.XII.1848-2.XII.1873 one battlefight at least.
b) the other No.2 medal Signum Memoriae had been intended for clerical workers who proved extraordinal service. c) No.3 is commemorative medal at the successor Rudolf dead (1858-1889) anniversary. Among common lead tax seals I’d like to emphasize the seal with double ear (No.4 pix), the first I’ve ever found. Buttons don’t need any explanation, of course Napoleonic button I highly appreciate. No.5 I guess as a medieval pouch bronze hanger. __________________ |

Why not. The same as we dream about America for you is attractive continent your ancestors. Anyway Hamburg is interesting city, I spent there last Xmas week. And for metal detectoring is Czech better than Germany regarding laws.

What exactly are the laws in Germany and Czech regarding metal detecting? I may be going to Germany soon and would like to know if I am allowed to metal detect there. Thanks __________________ |

Well, the situation is as following: Basically its not forbidden to search in Germany (if you not search esp. for treasures or historical finds on itself). And you have to get a permission from the land owner. In the most German states there is a rule which says a treasure belongs to 100% to the land which the treasure was found in. Except in Bavaria, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Hessen and Hamburg the treasure belongs to 50% to the finder and 50% to the land owner. On these land countries there is no problem to search and the archeologists and police are relaxed. And there is another rule: On WWI or WWII sites it is forbidden to search in. Also on castles or other historical places. On these places - if the police comes - your detector will be confiscated . The better info is the most of policemen and Rangers do not even know about any rules regarding MDing. The best thing at least: The only thing to avoid any trouble is to search on beaches or in empty lakes. If you'd hunt on a beach the germans won't care about you but in the local parks they won't like that and you might get in trouble. In Czech is situation absolutely different. The police don't care about you at all, hunting in wood, forest, most of fields, meadows, hills no problem and you don't need permit at all just when field under fresh planting it is better to go hunt another field which is not. The MD hunter must be careful just on archeologic sites but those other places are for you absolutely free. Czech laws prohibit to hunt items before cca 1500 y. but no one cares about it. Simply said here is real paradise/wilderness for MD hunters in contrast of west countries where everything in private possesion. Here you with detector are interesing object of wonder and freak for other people, in Germany maybe also but in many cases rather interloper. __________________ |
