Talking Hello from NH

Hi my name is Brian, I'm 47
Been interested in MDing for a short while now, doing lots of internet searches and reading on forums. This hobby looks like a lot of fun, with great friendly people.
When I was younger I loved (and still do) the outdoors. (Hiking MTN biking and rock climbing). Now that those hobbies are a thing of the past. Interested in getting back outdoors and this looks to be the perfect platform.
Currently in the marked for starter MDer: Toss up from Fisher F5, Garrett AT pro, Ace 350, Whites Prizm 5G &6T, X-terra 505.
Leaning towards the Ace 350. Read lots of good reviews and great finds with this budget machine.
What does everyone think? Suggestion please.
Can't wait to read more great adventures to help keep me motivated.
Thanks to everyone in advance. Brian P

Hello and Welcome from Boston.

I grew up in Weare, NH. I like New Hampshire a lot.

As for detectors get the AT Pro! Its a wonderful detector and very versitile and waterproof. I'd personally stay away from that Fisher. Not a lot of people use the F5's and they chatter too much. If you get the Ace350, you'll be wanting to upgrade to an AT Pro within a year! The xTerra is another really good detector, so I'd give it a toss up between the ATPro and the xTerra.

Hello Brian, I'm a newbie as well...just purchased Fisher F5 DD. Wish I had gotten in this forum before I made my purchase...but live and learn. I used Kelleyco for advise on my purchase. Jressman from Boston is correct quit a bit of chatter with the F5. I've dug plenty of junk up that should have stayed in the ground. But inexpierance has a lot to with it too. Let us know which detector you purchase. rray in Amherst, NH

Welcome to the forum from Richmond, Texas !!!

I'd get the At-Pro for the waterproof capability, which is what I did when I started and I'd do the same if I was starting again.

Make sure no matter which detector you end up getting to also get a Garrett Pro-Propointer. Once you've used one you won't consider detecting without it!
