Default Great opportunity to dig a bottle site!

I have not been able to swing much lately, it has been too darn hot. Even so, a friend asked if I would be interested in checking out a dump site on their ranch. I was thrilled to check out a new area, but neither of us could dig long cause of the heat. We unearthed a ton of bottles in short time and there are plenty more to find when it is cooler.

Here are a small number of the many. 1st pic from left is a Certo bottle, a unmarked wine or liquor bottle and short clear bottle with a circled B for Brockway Glass.

2nd pic bottle has Sharp & Dohme by Armstrong Cork Co. and syrup bottle is likely by Knox bottle Co.

3rd pic is Milk of Magnesia tablets bottle by Maryland Glass and clear ribbed bottle has mark that is likely Owen-Illinois glass.

4th pic is the coolest! This is a Orange Crush 6oz bottle with a mark "3 Rivers" and Kenedy Texas on bottom. It also has the patent date for orange crush of July 20, 1920. It is a rare find since Three Rivers Glass Co was in business from 1922-1936 and the design likely predates 1930.

5th pic is a presto jar canning lid with the glass insert still intact. It predates 1941.

Nice digs. I love that cap. Nice detail in it. The good thing is that if you're digging 40's era stuff and there's still more to go, the older stuff will be nestled all warm and snuggly underneath waiting for you to grab it.

Unfortunately, "trash" was dumped and then burned so there is a lot of heat fractured glass. I dug one test hole about 20 inches down and found the deeper items were shattered from repeated burnings. This dump site is so large there is still plenty to find.

going to be a heck of a workout to dig that. I'm in the midst of digging an old outhouse and 5-8 dumps at the inlaws' farm. A few of them were also burn pits. Luckily many of the bottles are still intact. Luckily you have more real estate to dig. Good luck
