New to the hobby and love it. I have started with a Bounty hunter from the Pawn shop and have found a few things learning the art. Would like to hear from yall that have gone from a 250 to the newer Pro from Garrett. I am going to buy one 250 or the Pro and want to know is the price worth steping up to the Pro. I go to the beach about 2 times a year but mostly hunt fields and parks around home. I know the water proof is a plus but what about the targeting between them. I respect what the field users really think. Not all the hipe from the dealers...Thanks for your input....

Without question go with the AT. After using the 350 a little and owning an AT, there's no comparison. If you go with the 250 you're going to be looking to upgrade in another month. Good luck and HH!

I agree with oldie. If you have the money, go Pro. If you can't swing it, use the BH to find a bunch of clad to help pay for it. You will want to upgrade to the Pro at some point. I don't see the sense in spending the extra for a machine you you want to use for too long. Good luck

Agreed with the others, as you know your into the hobby its much less of a risk getting something as expensive as the at pro...there may even be offers out there for second hand barely used one, people do drop out of the hobby for one reason or another, the 250 is aparently good but its like the at pro on std setting, when you crank the at to the pro setting thats when it hikes up the petty shirt and shows you what it can really do.
Its depth, speed, tones, settings and yes waterproof will blow you away but remember its not a salt water hunter so if you goto the beach strictly sand and the drier the better. I've had mine for 3 months and i wouldnt trade it up and have found a few silver with it and relics and around $30 in clad (i only go out about once a week so thats only about 10 hunts). You'll love it. __________________ |

I started with a bounty hunter last October just to be sure I would like hobby. I moved up to the AT Pro in February and love it. I try to get out as much as possible and have found a lot of good stuff. If you have enjoyed your hunts with the bounty hunter you will really enjoy the AT Pro.

If you have the money to spend go pro. I've had multiple detectors including bounty hunters, ace 250, fisher f2 and the pro surpasses all of them.

I also started out with a Bounty Hunter, and it showed me that I was serious about detecting, and could do real well with the right equipment for the locations I hunt, providing I put the time and effort into learning how to use it. It sounds like you're serious now about the hobby as well, and you won't want to have to upgrade again...so do your homework, get the best machine you can afford now, even if you have to buy it gently used, and learn it well...Good luck and HH!

You could also upgrade from the AT Pro if you had the extra money to a x-terra 705 it is a wonderful machine and you can use it in the salty sand with the ground tracking feature. It isn't water proof but it is a amazing machine I have found just over 75 bucks in clad with it and a few silver rings and a silver coin and one ring that I have to have checked out. But that being said I have heard wonderful things abou tthe AT Pro

I would personally recommend that you get the BEST MD that you can comfortably afford and that means, in this instance, the AT Pro. Many more features that you are paying for in the Pro BUT well worth the investment, IMHO:o) With constant use, the difference in price between the detectors could end up being a mute point (with only ONE good find:o)

Get the pro, it is an amazing machine. If nothing else the recovery time between targets is extremely fast allowing you to move fast then slow down and examine a target before digging.
I found a 9 dime spill in the water one time and there were rapid high tones one after the other in a single sweep, sounded like silver popcorn. ![]() The high frequency also nails even small gold hard. __________________ |

As you can see I swing a 350. It's a good machine but I would upgrade to a pro if it was in my budget!

Whatever machine you get take the time to learn it. I've been using a BH and just upgraded...it's a whole new ballgame.
