Default KT is back with a good CRH this week!

Due to the 4th round of chemo, KT took a break last week from CRHing but came back with a winner this week! 5 half boxes yielded:

Box 1 - 1 40%, 2 NIFCs
Box 2 - 2 nice proofs including a 71S
Box 3 - THE BONANZA BOX! 10 40%, 1 90%, 5 NIFCs
Box 4 - 1 90%, 1 NIFC, and 1 87D low mintage
Box 5 - 1 40%, 3 NIFCs

For a total of 2 90% 64 Kens, 12 40% Kens, 2 Proofs, 11 NIFCs, and 1 87D !

Worked through these over Thursday night, Friday morning before work, and Friday night....several dances at the 64s because they were the first 90%ers in 5 weeks!

Here's the pics! Enjoy!

Nice finds, im filling up a treasure chest with them right now...just to fill it up with silver and my 1oz's would take forever..lol

Havnt found any silver yet, havnt checked for low mintage, what does NIFC stand for?

Going to mingle them in with some dollar coins so get the silver/gold look.

How many is in half a box?, I'm only buying $20 to $60 rolls for now, some of my banks dont carry them but im in no rush, another way to save dollars that i dont get charged on by the bank...

Glad to answer your questions, DC!

NIFC stands for not intended for circulation...starting in 2002, low mintages of halves started because they were not being used for the public. So they did not discontinue Kennedy halfs, only ran down to about 10% of the previous normalo years production numbers...and they only sell them by $1000 bags so the only folks that get them are coin dealers and those TV coin sellers...they cherry pick the good ones for grading and dump the rest out into circulation...thats how CRHers find them! In 15-30 years, anyone trying to put together a set of Ken halves will have fits without them...that's why KT saves them...future value! KT thinks that within 10 years that will stop and they will discontinue halves altogether.

Also, a box of halves cost $500, and you cannot order a half box, that's why they are called a box...they come 100 rolls sealed in a box! So with KT running through 5 boxes a week, you can tell He is seriously into CRHing halves! lol With Ken halves the ones you want are: 1964 90%, 1965-70 40%, 1987 any mint low mintage, and 2002-11...KT has not found a 12 yet! lol
Also any proof Ken is cool. Look up proof coins online to see what is special about them but usually only came out in proof sets.

Not sure what it is about 87's but I love them. It was a good year for me, and I saw the Beastie Boys on their first concert tour in 1987 (R.I.P. MCA). Borrowed my father's car and told him I was going to my high school's basketball game. Got busted though, when I left the Venue Hall parking pass on the dashboard. Ahhh, good times. I went almost 50 boxes without finding one, but I have found half a dozen over the last three weeks. Those '87s are elusive like leprechauns.

Dumped the last of this batch of halves today on the way back to the Castle from work....absolutely NO overage! But in scrounging around the machine, KT recovered the following from the trash can and from the rug under the coin counting machine! LOL Not too shabby! The ring is junk...don't get excited!

Three coins are bent, one Canadian, and the pennies were stuck together with old gum! LOL

Thanks for the info..i have abunch of the 1776-1976 ones...but i think the fact i have a few in only $130 worth means they are not anything special...will have to go through them again...do you take them back to the same bank or do the buy and sell at different branches?

I know one bank doesnt usually have any in they say people come in with some and people buy them like a quick turnaround...which makes me wonder if so many people are researching rolls that have been sear4ched and rerolled many times...thankfully im just doing it to make a pretty looking treasure chest, maybe take some pics at the end with my silver, gold and platinum in there too lol.

So do you search any of the potential silvers, halfs, dimes, quarters, nickels, etc all the time or just like once a month and only one type at a time..i know you dont lose anything because if theres nothing you get all your money back but its a lot to tie up in the buying, selling
