Default Thousands of ancient coins unearthed in Jersey

Two metal detectorists have dug up what is expected to be the biggest trove of ancient coins Western Europe has ever seen. See video.

"Archaeologists now think there could be as many as 20,000 coins meaning the value of such a find could be in the millions. Jersey won't be cashing in though - by law, the treasure belongs to the Queen."

Well that certainly is not how things should be.

And it wont.....The finders will be rewarded. I doubt that the value would be as much as £10 million

In one of the news items, it shows the finders using a "Whites 808 Hoard Finder", then later using what looked like a
"Gold Mask"

For those unaware of the geography of this part of the country. Jersey is one of the larger Islands, in a group between the South coast of England, and the coast of France. The Channel Islands.

There's an update to this story.
Conservationists have discovered other treasures hidden in amongst the
coins.

"loose lips sink ships"

im an archeologist by profession and i will be the first to admit that most archeologists are scum bags. Greedy and not willing to share any part of history with the people

I agree...move slowly, don't act suspicious, quietly fill your treasure pouch...
