Default Help Identifying Wheat Penny

Ok, so I need advice from the experts within our masses. The wife found a wheat penny at work and traded it out for a zincoln since we collect all old coins.

It's a 19*3 with some white corrosion build-up on the front and back, decent amount of rust on the back and slight rust on the front.

From a quick google search on dates and values we're not sure if its a 23, 33, 43, or 53. 1943 dates were steel, which could be why the penny has rust. But if it's a bronze or bronze S, then it's possibly worth big bucks.

Any advice on how to determine this without compromising the value? Soak it? Attempt to clean around the date? Send it in to a grading company?

We've never graded any coins so I'm not familiar with the extent of all the services they offer. Thanks for your feedback and guidance.

Happy 4th of July!

If it is a steel penny, a magnet will stick to it.

Thanks guys! Yesterday was a long day so hopefully thats a good enough excuse as to why my common sense wasn't working. Grabbed a magnet and in deed it is a steel penny. That solved the dating question and weather it was a million dollar find or just another wheaty. Thanks for your help.
