Default what's the scoop?

Think Ive got it narrowed down to 3 choices for my sand scoop.

sun spot stealth 8 inch or 6.5 inch?
nuttall diamond head scoop
RTG 6" aluminum scoop with stainless steel tip

I will be hunting freshwater areas with little or no rock and mostly sandy/muck bottoms.

Any comments and opinions would be appreciated. Also any other suggestions welcome.

Thanks!!

.... leaning towards the stealth 8"

I'd suggest a stavr scoop. I got his monstrik scoop and it's the biggest one I've ever seen!

RTG 6" aluminum scoop with stainless steel tip for the money and when weight counts. Good all around scoop. I'm sure you'll get more opinions.

I thought the same thing. I like the 6" bucket with the stainless tip for the money. And im in freshwater so the aluminum wont turn me funny colors.

Only thing i didnt like was it doesnt have any smaller holes to keep earrings and other small items from spilling out.. could zip tie some galvinized mesh in tho

I'd go for the 6" RTG aluminum as well.

If you can find someone near you who has the Stealth, do yourself a favor and see if you can test it out - just get a feel for how it works and whether you're comfortable with it or not.

I bought one and had to sell it again within a month. The construction was excellent, the customer service was great and I had no complaints about the quality. My problem was I just simply could not get used to using a straight up and down 90 degree handle scoop - I absolutely hated it. I don't know if it's cause I'm short (5'5") or what it was, but it was completely awkward for me.

I need the angled handle design like the RTG scoops - RTG makes good quality scoops, so I have no complaints there either.

Thank you,

This will be my first scoop.. so I will have nothing to compare it to. As for someone around me I think that will be hard to find here in the midwest where im at. Im 6' 1" and I work construction so the weight wont be a problem. I like the RTG models too but they lack on their warranty.. Also if you go stainless in anything bigger than 6" you really gotta shell out the cash.

The pointy headed scoop stavr makes looks good to. If I get a second scoop I think I'm gonna eat me one of those. Tey look great for very dose pack and to squeeze in between medium sized rocks

Made my purchase of the RTG 6" with the stainless tip from NED. From the responses here and talking to Andrew about where and what im using it for.. it seems like the best decision for me.

A big thank you to all that responded and again for the help! Nice to have a place to go to get first hand opinions and info before making a purchase!

Default Sun Spot

I have the RTG "Kick It". My first choice was the Stealth but decided it was too heavy for me. Depending on the beaches/sand, the Stealth Sugar Sand version would be top notch. (If weight isn't an issue) They are solid and you won't go through a lot of scoops if you are a hard core hunter. The guys at Stealth are amazing people to talk to as well. If you should decide on the RTG, give NED a call and they will hook you up with one suited for you.

Not always does one model fit all sizes. Different strokes for different folks.

Seems like the RTG will be comn in on Monday.. and yes.. NED and this forum did a great job again getting me feeling comfortable that i made the right purchase.. I know its not a persons life savings but who wants to regret spending around 150-200 on something!! Im sure after the comments about the RTG line here im going to like the scoop

My RTG 710 Flynn is great, it takes a lot of abuse (prying) with no damage. Sometimes when I'm in the water & wash though, I think I would like something wider like a stealth or stavr for getting the target in fewer scoops. As for the 90degree angle, I couldn't work with that either.

Love these scoops, the Flynn 710 hehe on the left, it's a monster digging in anything. Stomp it into rocks, pebbles, pry large rocks, red clay and quartz, just drive it in and it'll hold up. The SS tipped one for water hunting all the way. Both outstanding value and the handles are superb. Held several others in the last year and well..................
