Spring break should be in full swing next week...lots of drops, but also big crowds! I plan to detect at night with a headlamp.

Go by and see your local dealer. Phil at Meyers Metal Detectors is a great guy and he may help you with some tips and tricks. Ask to see his good luck shorts!!

We've got "trashy" beaches if you like to dig a lot (good targets mixed in), and areas that are almost sterile due to all the searching.

Hey all. Im new to the forum but have been in the NPR area for 5 years. I just bought my first metal detector while on vacation in michigan. After reading some of the laws for MDing in our area i have been discouraged a little. I was wondering if you guys could tell me if you have been hunting private or public areas. I dont need specific locations.

We have been mding all around west michigan for the past week and a half and no one has bothered us, but after reading some other posts about west florida and florida in general i am afriad it wont be so easy.

Thanks for the input,
Russ

You'll never run out of places to hunt down here, Russ...state parks and a lot of county property are pretty regulated, but the parks in the cities I've hunted in have caused me no problem, nor have I found any local cities with rules banning MDing. Have fun...HH!

Hi Russ,

I am also located in Pasco County. As far as I know, hunting county parks in Pasco County is prohibited. However, you are only a short drive from other counties such as Hillsborough and Pinellas which I believe allow metal detecting. I have mostly hunted private property (with permission) and try to stay off public land. Good luck!
