Minelab Xterra 705 Gold Pack version will give you the 18.75kHz coil included. Then you can get a coinshooting coil for about $175. 705 has manual and auto ground balance to help you cope with crazy soil. Regardless of who you buy it from make sure you ask if they are offering a package, you will probably be able to get a Garret ProPointer thrown in and you will be under budget with everything you need.

Well if you want a opinion of somone who has both used a garrett and a minelab machine I would go with the minelab x-terra 705. Has a coin and a prospecting mode you can change the type of detector it can be by changing the coils. It can be a gold sniffer to a silver killer just by changing the coil. It is also very light compared to any whites machine and garrett. I think it is right around 2.9 pounds. The ground tracking will do wonders for you while other people are having to ground balance every so often you just push that on and it will ground balance as you go. There are lot of of people on here that say the 705 is there favorite detector and it is true many people have bought higher end machine and come back to the 705. The safari is good because it has multi frequencies but the technology is a bit older then the 705. And like someone said before the etrac has a backlight for evening hunts and guess what... So does the 705 so when people are leaving because they dont have a flashlight to see there screen you just push the button and continue hunting

Cool! Now you can still get a 705, have two of the best newly developed technologies, and have complimentary machines.

I love having both. They are my "Dynamic Duo".
