anyone know anywhere i can get a 4'x4' plastic strainer? It has to be flat and close to a 1/4" thick, Iam constructing a sifter to tow behind me at the beach in water. ive tried home depot all they have is metalic and i want non-metalic so i can use a pinpointer to find smaller stuff with my pp. any help would be appreciated. so far i have gotten the frame done, its out of pvc pipe, i have a plastic cleat that a rope will attach to, clips for pp, 2 holders for water bottles and a clip to attach to my belt. the total size of it is 18"x24", thanks...GL+HH.....cliff.

Couldn't you use a piece of plexiglass? Any hardware store should stock it. I wish you luck my friend!

I would post an ad on craigslist under "items wanted". I get pieces of glass and other things that way. Just a thought.

Maybe? .5 inch wide holes though. Not sure what size you are looking for. |

I betcha they would have what you want as well. But their website kinda lacks some details. You could call them directly |

Just a thought... but how about that orange plastic temporary construction fencing. The stuff is strong as all heck, cheap, and already has the small holes in it.

the inside of frame is 18x24, and most of the time stuff like that is sold in 4x4 or 4x8 sheets.

Was thinking of alternatives. What about something from a kitchen/restaurant supply store. I first thought of the clear acrylic tubs they use for food prep. that maybe you could drill holes in the bottom of, but then ran across this dish rack tub while searching for the other.

Some water hunters used those plant trays from garden stores.
Zippy tie a swim noodle around the tray, easy DYI project. |

Try making your strainer from a piece of course non-metallic screen - available at most lumber yards, just like the PVC.
