Don't need a total replacement... yet. Doc said it's a simple outpatient procedure. Only scary thing is it's scheduled for Friday the 13th. lol.

I know how you feel about the heat.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew That is scary. I don't claim to be superstitious but I wouldn't want surgery on Friday the 13th either. Good Luck. Hope all goes well.

Sorry to hear that happened. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and getting back out to hunt!

Pennyfinder,

So sorry to read about your back. I know all to well what a bad back can do to someone.

I had to stop detecting for two years once, after I had 4 disc removed from my lower spine.

I've since started to hunt again, tend to enjoy water hunting more now because it helps relieve the presure on my back. But I still hunt land, just no more marithon type hunts LOL ....

Put ice packs on your back for 20 mins, and then off for an hour or two, then repeat. It really helps alot...

Get Well Soon,
Ned

Thank you! I'm better. Hoping to get out this weekend and "beep" (detect) with Bonesquat. Wish me luck!

Good luck and get back quick. Mine goes out at least once a year so I know how you feel. Cheers

Smile Gonna Try "Beeping" Today

Heard from Bonesquat -- he's not coming so I guess I'll try going out solo today for a little while and see if the back will allow it. Wish me luck.

Good luck! Take it easy today. The goodies will still be there when you are 100%.

I got out there today for about 3 hrs I think. Finds will be posted elsewhere. I'll come back here and put a link when I get it done. Nothing fantastic. But I'm baaaaaaack! My back behaved itself. Thanks everyone for all your thoughts and prayers and comments!

Here's the link on my finds: http://metaldetectingforum.com/showt...64#post1293164

Yeah that is what the doctors are talking about for me too. Back in the 80's playing high school football had a couple of guys think it would be good to try to rip it off lol. I had reconstruction surgery then, now its just worn out and hurts all the time. It makes my hip hurt because I walk strange. I havent stopped MD'ing and dont plan on it but I am thinking about getting the knee replacement. It makes me feel better to hear somebody say they did it and its working out great. Hope you get well soon and start swinging again.
Johan

I'm aleady swinging. Had the surgery January 5, 2009 and within 4 months (after therapy was over) I was back doing everything I normally did -- I can even sit in the middle of the floor Indian style. I don't have any limitations. I don't know where you live but if you are near Nashville, TN I recommend Dr. Andrew Shinar at the Vanderbilt Orthopedic Institute. He is the top surgeon in this field. Here's a link to the Institute.

I hope you can go to him. I highly recommend him. Good luck. If you are a veteran you may can get the VA to pay for it.
