anyone else play in a band or write music?

well I have been retired from the music business since 1992...unfortunately I guess no one can sing 80's metal in WNY and my phone has been ringing for the last 6 months or so.
I went down last wed. and jammed about 8 songs with a bunch of well rounded musicians. it went well and I guess even after my neck surgery (anterior cervical fusion) I can still belt out a few. turns out this band has gigs lined up opening for national acts at the local level and want me to be part of it...I am still pondering the decision, I haven't played out in 20 years now. I still have the 80's look, long hair.
any other guys out there that have this as another hobby, or do you do it for a living?
no money around here to make a living at it and as long as it doesn't become a "job" I will probably be singing for the next few months.
