Default Pinpointing with F2

So I've been practicing pinpointing with my F2 and have drastically increased my recovery speed for pulling coins.

My question is, sometimes when I press pinpoint the screen stays blank and seems like the detector is not working. This doesn't happen very often, maybe 10% of the time, and when it happens I release and press again to find it working.

Ever had this happen? Is it my technique? Or is it a faulty button on the F2?

Yes, I've had this happen with mine. Normally, the detector must be in motion for it to function. When you use the pin-point it changes it to a stationary mode and it does not have to move to detect a target. Sometimes, there just is not a target under the sweet spot of the coil and the machine reports nothing.

Sometimes too, I think this is just something that the F2 does.

I have had the same thing happen with mine on occasion as well. I normally assume I am not pressing the button in the right place or at the right angle. I'm not really worried about it personally since it seems to work every time after releasing the button and repressing it.

Normal, also the pinpointer will delay sometimes which is also normal.
The manual calls this drifting and the machine will reset it self in a
couple of seconds after you release the pinpoint button. Don't forget to use the pinpointer as an object
width indicator as that trick can do wonders for reducing digging
to china holes (large iron and pop cans).

Happens to me once in awhile.
If there is absolutely nothing under the coil when you hit that button, it seems to just stay silent till you move it over a target.
Or, it just blanks out from time to time till you let the button go and press it again.

Ditto. Freaked me out at first. Now, I just rehit the PP button and go on from there.

My replt in another thread..similiar.

The pinpoint will just stop....I think I know why.

If the target is deep, and you lose the signal, either just before PP'ing or while in PP mode...so the PP function stops.
On my deeper targets, I try to get the coil as low as possible to the ground, then PP. I try to get a stable target first.

The other possibility, is when you PP, the MD is PPing ALL metal. Ive noticed (I think) that when the MD is PPing one target, and then hits another, possibly larger stronger target, the PP shuts down.

When my PP does stop...it seems it takes the MD a second or two to recover..to get back into "search" mode....it hesitates for a second or two. Like its doing a "reset."

+++ I ususaly find I was too hasty when pushing the PP button and dont get a good neutral ground setting

+++ I have started to get in the habit of running the coil over my boot lace eyes to 'get'r beep'n ag'in
