Default Riddle me this, boys and girls...

Found in a park, couple inches deep, high tone, except for the hole down the center and in the middle, solid aluminum.

Almost blew my ears off.

It seems vaguely familiar, and I think I know what it is...an old time handle for a rope on a pull-start mower.

If anyone has any other ideas please let me know. I don't want to have to start a pole...

Looks like one of those foot pegs used to do freestyle stunts on bicycles...

Maybe.
But no way to tighten it down from what I can see.

My dad was a plumber and I remember seeing this in his tools - it's a part of a tool.

well, those grooves look like snap-rings would go on them to hold other pieces in place. possible part of a gearbox from something.
if it's aluminum, it sure wouldn't withstand any great deal of strain or wear.

Those have a wedge that comes out when you stick it into a broken off pipe to remove the threads from a fitting, such as a broken off shower arm.

Weird, huh?
Gear, handle, foot peg.
One of life's mysteries.

That looks like part of a gearshift spindle that the shift arm would go on or the kickstart spindle for motorcycles. Could be from a 'postie' bike, aka a Honda CT 90.

I know what tool you're talking about, just can't remember what it's called. But I don't think it's one of them. That tool is the first thing that came to my mind, but it doesn't have that little "pawl" (for lack of a better word) that would allow it to conform to whatever it was being used to removed.

I have found two similar items just like these. Here in Kearns, Utah. I assumed there were for electrical. They are aluminum. they have no hole in the side just through the ends. I think they are for tv cable or something. Where I collected them they had torn down houses. I will try to post a photo later.

I agree... That is without a doubt, a bike peg.

Ain't the prettiest of pictures, but see for yourself some similar pegs:

That's what I said it was at the beginning, being found in a park and all...
