Default F75 or Minelab Explorer SE

I have been out of detecting for a while and have previously had a White's XLT and Minelab Explorer. I do mostly coin shooting and civil war relic hunting NW Arkansas and SW Missouri. I have found some pretty good deals on F75's, not the LTD's, and found a local Explorer SE with lots of extras for a decent price. About 60% of what I hunt has been hunted before so I want something that will go pretty deep. I am looking to spend somewhere around $800 on a used setup just not sure which way to go. I have also seen alot of people talking about the Garrett AT Pro, it is pretty cheap, is it worth even looking at.

Minelab if your looking for silver coins for sure. They are stable as they get and are very deep.

There's a guy in California pulling insane amounts of silver using the Explorer, and there's a guy in Connecticut pulling lots of silver using a F75LTD Most of my silver and old coins came from pounded public places. Either unit will get the job done...Used LTD's can be had in the $700-800 range.

Well I would say with the CTX launch I have seen SEVERAL mint e-trac's in misc forums for under $900, I would go that route.

If I could find an Etrac for that price I would buy one.

I went on my lunch break to my local dealer and after looking everything over I bought a new Minelab Xterra 705. It looks like it is going to fit my current needs very well.

Congrats on the new machine!
I've been very pleased with my 705, and I'm sure that you will be with yours too.
Simple, light and very capable....what more can you ask?

Thanks, I can't wait to get out this weekend and use it. My dealer planted the seed for a CTX in my brain so I will probably try and buy one next month. I mentioned it to my wife today and she didn't threaten to divorce me so that is promising.
