Smile Hello from Sweet Home Alabama !
Hello all! I am a new forum member from rural West Central Alabama. I can as long as I remember have always wanted to take up MD'ing. I took the plunge almost a couple months ago and started acquiring my current arsenal of machinery.

I actually have been trolling the FMDF for a few months already and even though my join date is a few weeks old, this is my official first post. I want to thank all of the Forum Regulars in advance for the ton of helpful information I have already learned a ton from. Hopefully I will able to contribute some knowledge soon myself, though I still have a ton to learn.

I am very fortunate to live in a fairly historical part of the State...and have plenty of places to hunt. I've been on many outings already and have made the "usual" finds, junk, plenty of clad (will update my sig on current findings soon), etc. My most interesting find to date is a 1889 IH penny which I found about a month ago. I did find my first ring today...not gold, but appears to be gold plated filigree style with an opal. I'm confident I am on the right path to not only finding my first elusive silver but also the even more elusive pretty yellow stuff.

Glad to call the FMDF my forum home
