Default Early results from the 6x8 SEF coil: 3 Barber day!

I recently found a 6x8 SEF coil for my ETRAC on eBay since I've read some great reviews by some respected MDers, and since I tend to work in highly trashy areas, I figured why not?

So my first day out I found a bunch of Wheats, and a King George I Farthing (1717-1724) which is my oldest coin to date, and some clad. Not bad, but definitely not enough to consider the coil "better" than the Pro stock. It's just one hunt. Then today I get out for a few hours and decide to work the same area I found the Farthing, and I find 3 Barbers! A really ugly worn 1904 quarter, and two dimes (1916 S, 1908 D). So is this coil better? It's only been two hunts in a spot I pounded many times before, so all I can say is I'm VERY impressed. Lucky? Well I've lived my entire life being lucky, but I suppose this smaller coil is better than the Pro like others have said.

Diggin let me make a suggestion from my limited time detecting in Ark. My first mercury dime ('43) came from 7" down in my sisters driveway, the house was built in the forties.

This last Friday I pulled my most recent merc ('37) from an old gravel driveway that was almost covered over in grass. House was long gone. Hit them gravel drives brother especially where you think the cars would have been parked.

Glad to see the SEF is rocking the silver for you Ronfin . I have thought about a 5" DD for the f75 and am all but committed to it. Already priced it with Bart, for the same trash reasons

I have been using the 6x8 coil for over a yr now and I am very confident on its abilities, I have hit several coins at 8 inches easy. Amazing separation too

I'm very impressed with it after two hunts. I worked the same spot I had over and over before, and find 3 Barbers in one day all close to each other, and a King George I?! The Pro coil missed these time and again. Smaller is definitely the way to go.

The 8X6 SEF is a great coil. And, it will definitely go 8". Only drawback is it takes longer to cover an area. Can't be that big a drawback, though, since mine never comes off my machine any more.
